Screen wash top-up in Amsterdam
At Excellent Carwash, Langsom 2 in Amsterdam, you can buy screen wash and top up on the spot. Our winter fluid is rated to -20 °C, so your jets and lines will not freeze. Available during wash tunnel opening hours.
Why you should not use tap water
Tap water in your washer reservoir seems harmless, but it freezes at zero and expands as it does. That can damage your pump, the lines and in the worst case the reservoir itself, a repair costing many times a bottle of fluid.
Tap water also contains lime, which slowly blocks the fine openings in your jets, and it contains no degreasing agents. Water alone does nothing against a film of exhaust residue, road grime and insect remains.
Summer and winter fluid
Winter fluid contains alcohol and therefore does not freeze. Summer fluid cleans insects better but will freeze. Top up once with winter fluid in October and you are set for the season.

- Never mix with tap water, it dilutes the freeze protection
- Run the jets briefly after filling so the line fills too
Wipers that smear
If your screen still smears with fresh fluid, the cause is usually the wiper blades or a greasy film on the glass. Wipe the rubbers with a cloth and some glass cleaner; if that does not fix it, the blades need replacing.
