Tyre pump in Amsterdam
There is a tyre pump on the Excellent Carwash site at Langsom 2 in Amsterdam for topping up your tyre pressure. The pump is available while the site is open. The correct pressure for your car is on a sticker inside the driver-side door.
Why tyre pressure matters more than you think
A tyre running 0.5 bar low uses noticeably more fuel, wears faster at the shoulders and lengthens your braking distance, particularly on a wet road. Tyres lose roughly 0.1 bar a month on their own, even with no puncture.
Check your pressure monthly, and always before setting off on holiday with a loaded car. A heavily loaded car usually needs a higher pressure than normal.
How to inflate correctly
Always measure with cold tyres. If you have just driven for half an hour, the air inside has warmed and you will read a falsely high value. Do not correct it downwards. You would then drive on under-inflated tyres.
- Find the sticker in the driver door or the fuel flap
- Note there are often two values: normal and fully laden
- Unscrew the valve caps and put them somewhere they cannot roll away
- Inflate all four tyres, and do not forget the spare
- Screw the caps back on, they keep dirt and moisture out of the valve
Top up your screen wash while you are here
While you are on site, check your screen wash too. We sell that here as well, winter-ready down to -20 °C.
